Got Questions About Windscreen Damage? Here Are Our Most Asked Questions!
A damaged windscreen is more than just an inconvenience, it’s a safety risk. Whether it’s a minor chip or a full crack, knowing what to do next can be confusing. Will your insurance cover it? How long will the repair take? And if your car has Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), do you need recalibration?
At OnPoint, we specialise in fast, reliable windscreen repairs and replacements, ensuring your vehicle is back on the road safely and efficiently. To help you navigate the process, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about windscreen damage, insurance, and ADAS recalibration.
How long will my car be out of action for a windscreen repair or replacement?
Minor repairs typically take under 30 minutes, while full replacements are often completed within the same day. We guarantee your car will be ready within 48 hours.
Does my insurance cover windscreen repairs or replacements
Many insurance policies include windscreen coverage, sometimes with no excess. We recommend checking with your insurer to confirm your coverage.
Do you handle the insurance claim process for me?
Yes! While you’ll still need to contact your insurer, we can liaise with them to make the process as smooth as possible.
What is ADAS, and why does my windscreen replacement require recalibration?
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features, like lane departure warnings and collision avoidance, rely on cameras mounted on your windscreen. If replaced, these cameras must be recalibrated to ensure they function correctly.
How do I know if my car needs ADAS recalibration?
If your vehicle has safety features such as automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, or lane-keeping assistance, it likely requires recalibration after a windscreen replacement. Our team will check this for you.
Can you repair any windscreen damage, or will I need a full replacement?
Small chips and cracks can often be repaired, but if the damage is in the driver’s line of sight, spreading, or too deep, a full replacement may be necessary.
Do you service commercial and fleet vehicles?
Yes! We provide windscreen repairs and replacements for commercial vehicles, including vans, trucks, and fleet vehicles, minimising downtime for your business.
What’s the big deal about a small chip?
Even a tiny chip can weaken your windscreen. Over time, factors like temperature changes and road vibrations can cause it to spread, leading to a costlier full replacement.
What materials do you use for repairs and replacements?
Absolutely! We use top-grade glass and materials that meet or exceed industry safety standards, ensuring long-lasting results.
How can I book a windscreen repair or replacement?
You can give us a call, visit our website, or drop by our workshop to schedule a repair. Our team is ready to help you get back on the road quickly and safely.
At OnPoint, we believe windscreen repairs and replacements should be quick, hassle-free, and done to the highest safety standards. Whether it’s handling your insurance claim, recalibrating your ADAS system, or servicing commercial vehicles, we’ve got you covered.
